Michael (Mike) Cohen, Chair
Michael J. Cohen is the immediate past Executive Director of National Alliance on Mental Illness, NH (NAMI NH). Mike has worked in the field of mental health administration and research for over twenty-five years. He is a consultant to the Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center and also serves as an adjunct assistant professor at Dartmouth Medical School, Department of Psychiatry. He has also served as a school counselor, Director of a Community Mental Health Center, Director of an Assertive Case Management Team (ACT) and as the Associate Director of a Clinical Drug Trial Research Program at a Psychiatric Hospital.
Mike has broad experience as a treatment provider, administrator, advocate and researcher in both mental health and healthcare, generally. These experiences combined with his knowledge of mental illnesses and developmental psychology, and his personal experience as a parent of a daughter with mental illness, provides him with a deep understanding of the needs of families and consumers dealing with mental illness and the services and support systems necessary throughout the health care system to promote recovery and build resilience.
Sarah Jane Knoy, Member
Director of the Granite State Organizing Project, a non-profit, non-partisan organization rooted in faith and democratic values that includes 32 religious, labor, and community organizations representing 40,000 New Hampshire families.
Tricia Lucas, Member
Policy Director for New Futures, a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization working to advocate, educate and collaborate to reduce alcohol and other drug problems in New Hampshire.
Mark MacKenzie, Member
President of the NH AFL-CIO, which brings together the unions of New Hampshire into one labor movement to fight for economic and social justice in our workplaces, and communities.
Nancy Pederizini, Treasurer
Advocacy Director at the American Heart Association - New Hampshire, an organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
John Thyng, Member
Former Director of NH for Health Care, which represented more than 80,000 Health Care Voters in the Granite State calling for access to quality, affordable health care for every American.
